Trailer Brakes

Find brake assemblies and individual components by the system already fitted to your trailer: electric, actuator-operated or air brakes.

Start with the brake system, then the component

An electric brake assembly, an air brake chamber and a brake actuator solve different replacement tasks. Identify the system on your trailer before comparing products. A matching description alone does not establish that a part fits.

What to compare

  • Complete assemblies: manufacturer part number, brake size, mounting pattern, stated axle application and left/right orientation where specified.
  • Drums and related hardware: braking surface dimensions, hub configuration, wheel bolt pattern and bearing/seal identifiers. A drum-only listing is different from a hub-and-drum assembly.
  • Actuators, calipers and pads: manufacturer series, connection type and the exact replacement component. Do not assume every disc-brake component uses the same actuation system.
  • Air brake parts: identify the chamber or valve by its markings and documentation, then confirm port, mounting and application details.

Choose the repair scope deliberately

Check what is included in the listing. An individual shoe, magnet, seal or hardware kit is not necessarily a complete assembly. Compare the contents with the manufacturer's service information before building a parts list.

Brake-parts buying questions

Does the axle rating identify the correct brake?

It is one comparison point. Brake dimensions, mounting, system type and manufacturer application also need to match; a rating by itself is not a compatibility confirmation.

Are left and right brake assemblies interchangeable?

Use the listing and manufacturer documentation to confirm orientation. When a part is specified for one side, do not substitute the opposite-side part.

Can I choose a replacement from a photo?

Photos help identify the component family. Confirm the identifier and specifications as well, particularly for brake-system components.
